What the Village is
A former motel transformed into 32 studio apartments, the Village is a NARR Level II certified recovery residence and a substance-free community for women who socialize and identify as female.
She signs a real one-year lease, pays real rent, and builds real rental history, often for the first time in her adult life. She lives independently, but she is not alone. A Case Manager works with her on site, with goals built around all eight dimensions of wellness.

Where the Village fits
Level one
Shared, structured recovery housing with six phases and weekly case management. This is where she builds the foundation.
Level two · You are here
Her own studio, her own lease, and continued support close by. This is where she practices independence.
Level three
The Village is permanent housing, so she can stay. Or she can take the rental history, savings, and habits she has built wherever she goes next.
What to expect
A quiet, secure, substance-free building where every woman has her own space and a team still close by.
A studio for one woman, with her own one-year lease in her own name.
A substance-free building with drug and alcohol screening, and neighbors doing the same work.
Every visitor is approved by staff and signs in.
From 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., so everyone can rest.
Who can apply
• At least 6 months of continuous sobriety. Medication for addiction treatment counts.
• Legal income to sign a lease. SSI and SSDI count, and income is verified before the lease is signed.
• Income at or below 30% of the area median, $24,450 a year for one person (2026). This is an admission limit, so a raise after move-in does not affect her lease.
• Sign a one-year lease and pay rent every month
• Live independently in a substance-free building
• Work with a Case Manager and follow the building expectations
• Pay any balance owed to The Beacon before signing a lease
A criminal record is not an automatic barrier. Every record is reviewed individually, and arrests without a conviction are never used. Reasonable accommodation requests, including for assistance animals, are welcome at any time.
How to apply
It is the same application for Sherman Hill and the Village. Caseworkers are welcome to sit with her while she applies.

1
The date and time it arrives set her place on the list.
2
We talk about her recovery, her income, and what living at the Village asks of her.
3
A short form to complete before the in-person interview.
4
When an apartment opens, she sees the building, meets the Case Manager and the landlord, and goes over the lease.
5
Keys are handed over once the lease is signed and the $200 deposit and first month's rent are paid.
We cannot give a move-in date, because an apartment opens only when a resident moves out. Please keep a backup housing plan in place, since a court date, release plan, or discharge date cannot move someone up the list. Keep contact information current: if we cannot reach someone when an apartment opens, we move on to the next person.
Not quite ready for the Village?
Shared, structured transitional recovery housing for women with 30 days sober. No income on day one is completely fine, and it is the same application.
